Code of Conduct and Sportsmanship Policy

Effective Date: 9/5/2025

1. Purpose

World Junior Golf Tour ("WJGT," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and fair competitive environment for all junior participants. This Code of Conduct and Sportsmanship Policy ("Code of Conduct") sets expectations for behavior, etiquette, integrity, and compliance with rules, and outlines consequences for violations.

This Code of Conduct is incorporated by reference into the WJGT Terms & Conditions and applies to all WJGT events, activities, communications, and associated venues (including practice rounds, warm-up areas, host facilities, and online leaderboards).

2. Who This Applies To

This Code of Conduct applies to:

  • Junior participants (players)
  • Parents and legal guardians
  • Coaches, caddies, and family members
  • Spectators and guests
  • Volunteers and staff while supporting WJGT activities

WJGT may remove or restrict any person whose conduct is disruptive, unsafe, or inconsistent with this policy.

3. Core Standards of Behavior

All participants and attendees must:

  • Treat others with respect (players, families, staff, officials, and facility personnel)
  • Demonstrate sportsmanship, honesty, and self-control
  • Follow all tournament instructions, course policies, and safety directions
  • Avoid conduct that disrupts play or detracts from the experience of others
  • Comply with all applicable laws and host facility rules

4. Etiquette and On-Course Conduct

Players are expected to:

  • Maintain proper pace of play and be ready when it is their turn
  • Avoid profanity, yelling, or aggressive behavior
  • Use safe club-handling practices and remain aware of others
  • Respect quiet during another player's swing

5. Prohibited Conduct (Behavior)

The following conduct is prohibited and may result in immediate penalties:

  • Verbal abuse, threats, intimidation, bullying, harassment, or discrimination
  • Physical aggression, fighting, pushing, or throwing objects
  • Damage to property (including course property) or reckless behavior
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct (club throwing, slamming clubs, deliberate disruption, taunting)
  • Inappropriate language or gestures directed at any person
  • Refusal to follow directions from WJGT officials or host facility staff
  • Any conduct that creates a safety risk

6. Integrity and Anti-Cheating Rules

WJGT takes competitive integrity seriously. The following are prohibited:

  • Knowingly submitting incorrect scores, hole results, or penalties
  • Altering or attempting to alter scorecards, score entries, or digital scoring records
  • Providing false information regarding eligibility, age, division, or identity
  • Misrepresenting rules decisions or withholding required penalty information
  • Collusion or agreements to manipulate scoring or standings
  • Use of prohibited assistance where not allowed (including unauthorized advice, signals, or coaching during play beyond what is permitted by applicable rules/conditions)

WJGT may audit scoring and may require clarification from players, markers, or witnesses. If WJGT determines cheating occurred (or was attempted), WJGT may impose penalties up to and including disqualification, suspension, and permanent removal.

7. Devices, Coaching, and Electronic Assistance

Unless explicitly permitted by WJGT for a specific event or division:

  • Players may not use devices in a manner that provides an unfair competitive advantage.
  • Players must follow WJGT instructions on phone use, rangefinders, apps, music/audio, and communications.

WJGT may restrict or prohibit certain devices or features at any time to protect fairness and pace of play.

8. Parent, Coach, Caddie, and Spectator Conduct

Parents, coaches, caddies, and spectators must:

  • Maintain respectful communication with officials and staff
  • Avoid coaching, signaling, or intervening in a way that disrupts play or violates event rules
  • Refrain from confronting other players, parents, or groups
  • Stay in designated spectator areas and follow all facility policies

WJGT may penalize a player for the conduct of a parent/guardian, coach, caddie, or guest when such conduct impacts the tournament, safety, or fairness.

9. Alcohol, Drugs, and Tobacco/Nicotine

WJGT events are junior environments. The following are prohibited for players at all times during WJGT activities:

  • Alcohol and illegal drugs
  • Tobacco or nicotine products (including vaping)

Violation may result in immediate disqualification and suspension. WJGT may contact a parent/guardian and, where appropriate, the host facility or authorities.

10. Dress and Professional Appearance

Players must follow any WJGT dress code and the host facility's dress standards. When in doubt, conservative golf attire is expected (collared shirts, appropriate shorts/pants/skirts, and golf shoes as required). WJGT may require a participant to change attire or may restrict participation for non-compliance.

11. Reporting Concerns

Concerns or reports may be made to a WJGT official on site or submitted to WJGT after the event. WJGT may request statements and may consider evidence such as:

  • Official observations
  • Witness statements
  • Digital scoring records and timestamps
  • Facility reports

WJGT may take action even if a report is made after an event, including retroactive penalties where appropriate.

12. Enforcement and Consequences

WJGT may impose consequences in its sole discretion based on severity, intent, repetition, and impact on safety and fairness, including:

  • Verbal warning
  • Stroke penalties or score adjustments (where applicable)
  • Loss of privileges (practice access, device use, etc.)
  • Disqualification from an event
  • Suspension for a defined period
  • Permanent ban from WJGT events and programs

WJGT's decisions regarding conduct and discipline are final.

13. No Retaliation

Retaliation against any person for reporting a concern or participating in an investigation is prohibited and may result in immediate disciplinary action.

14. Acceptance

By registering for or participating in WJGT activities, the parent or legal guardian and the junior participant acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Code of Conduct.
